Puno is located about a height of 4000 mts in
El Collao plateau, a golden land with natural pastures such as the Ichu, the most famous. The main attraction is the Titicaca Lake, the highest navigable lake in the world shared with Bolivia. Titicaca Lake is surrounded by a group of beautiful islands full of color and life. In the Peruvian part of the lake we could visit Uros, Taquile, Amantani, Suasi islands and much more.
The Spanish found the ancient city of Puno in 1668. It is colourful and hospitable, a place where we could appreciate mixtures and tradition. Puno city has beautiful streets with stone arcades and typical squares surrounded by antique churches of baroque style and colonial balconies. The most impressive detail is the spectacular geography wherever you look.
This is a historical land with ancient quechuas communities as the Aimaras, Uros, Pacajes and Paquinas and also one of the most important cultures of the Andes: the Tiawanaco (100-700 d.C.) which main centre is located in Bolivia.
