Tumbes in short
Tumbes is the city next to the border with Ecuador. It has approximately 50.000 citizens and is used as garrison by the Peruvian soldiers. This city has a natural marine activity because of its localization. In the port, the fishermen lend their boats to the visitors. The beaches of Tumbes are considered the most beautiful ones in all our country because of its sand and the waves.
Between the most important beaches we can mention for example, Caleta, Cruz and Zorritos. Those beaches are ideal for the ones that like to swim. There you will also practice submarine fishing and appreciate more than 200 species of birds including 8 endemic.
Talking about the favorite beach of the citizens of Tumbes, we can say that they love Punta Sal, which is located more to the south. This beach is 3 km. long and offers you its warm crystalline water and at the same time you can practice there many activities.
In the northwest of the city you can find the bio spherical reserve that has 3 different ecosystems: manglares (Natural Sanctuary Los Manglares de Tumbes); dry wood (National Park Cerro de Amotape) and tropical wood (National Forest of Tumbes). This reserve is unique because it is the only one able to create three different ecosystems in such a small place.
