Located a 25 minute motor canoe ride down the River Madre de Dios from Puerto Maldonado, Sandoval Lake Lodge is perched above what many rainforest specialists feel is the most attractive lake in Southern Peru, if not in the entire Peruvian Amazon. The whole complex is housed in one structure and includes 25 double occupancy rooms (16 with private baths and 9 with sharing facilities), hot showers, and a spacious dining room overlooking the lake. For a more relaxed, complete introduction to the rainforest, we recommend a two night stay. However, with the easy access from Puerto Maldonado, for the first time it is possible to spend only one night in the rainforest and still get a good preliminary idea of the splendor of the Peruvian Amazon. |

Machu Picchu Express De Luxe - 2 days/1 nights|
Imagine a visit of Cusco and Machu Picchu in only 2 days, giving you the impression to have lived for one moment apart from time ? It is possible, through a magic trip which you will live intensely from the beginning to the end. Our trip begins with a flight Lima-Cusco (or coming from another city). You will discover the most important tourist places (Lima, Arequipa, Titicaca, Cusco, Machu Picchu), and you will attend the Inti Raymi ceremony, the Sun celebration. Ideally, this circuit should be booked a year in advance, if you want to benefit from the best places to attend the ceremony. This circuit can be adapted if you arrive in Peru at different dates or if you stay longer in the country. Starting with an introduction to Inca Cusco and the Sacred Valley, we follow with a deluxe, safari style horse pack trip into the nearby high Andes along seldom used Inca trails. After a pampered night at our favorite Sacred valley lodge, we treat you to the famous narrow gauge train ride and a quick, intensive visit to the new world's finest archaeological monument, Machu Picchu ... This is a safari style quality adventure using pack-stock to carry all gear and camping amenities. An experienced staff of bilingual guides and local packers accompany a small group of guests. Comfortable camps offer delicious meals prepared from fresh meats, grains and vegetables served in our large dining tent with tables and stools. One or two persons are assigned a weather tight, quality, four person sleeping tent. Each day begins with a pan of hot water and coffee or tea served at your tent. Before the evening meal, we enjoy happy hour with popcorn, assorted hot beverages and for those who imbibe, Gary and Barry's famous expedition vodka martini (shaken, not stirred). Our well trained, sure-footed, no nonsense horses (we own and train them ourselves at our Sacred Valley facility) are smaller than American saddle horses but carry us over the high passes with amazing energy. We do limit rider weight to 200 lbs. Comfortable padded, new, South American-style saddles are used. |

Manu Macaw Lick at the Manu Wildlife Center - 4 days/3 nights|
This trip has two major wildlife attractions : the Macaw lick in which hundreds of brightly colored macaws and other parrots congregate to eat the clay which is essential to their digestion making it certainly one of the world's great wildlife spectacles and the worlds only known ; Tapir lick where in the comfort of mattresses and mosquito nets you may watch the largest of all South American Land Mammals visit a mineral lick. Other attractions include several ox-bow lakes and walk up canopy towers enabling east access to the rainforest canopy. This program is designed for visitors to the Manu area with limited time available and who want to maximise their rainforest experience in Peru. This area of forest and lakes has a higher diversity of life than the Manu River itself. |

Pre-Colombian Civilizations of the North - 2 days/2 nights|
The first day is devoted to the visit of the Tombs of the Lord of Sipán (pyramids in adobe from the mochica era) and of the Museum "Tumbas Reales de Sipan". In the afternoon, we go to Túcume, the greatest site of archaeological open sky excavations in the world (a score of pyramids set up during the lambayeque and chimú era, then occupied by Incas). We take the bus to Trujillo. Trujillo is a charming small city where one can visit beautiful colonial houses. In the morning, we visit Huaca del Sol y de la Luna (temples of the sun and the moon, Mochica culture), then we make a visit of the colonial houses of the city. In the afternoon, we visit the fabulous site of Chan Chan, the capital of the Chimú empire. Then, we go to Huanchaco, a pleasant seaside resort located in a few kilometres from Chan Chan. |

Arequipa and the Flight of the Condor - 2 days/1 nights|
Arequipa is waiting for you at the feet of the Misti volcano. From there you will follow the trail of the "Condor", that's why you will get up very early and go before the sunrise to see the marvellous Colca Canyon, and the "Flight of the condor" ("El condor Pasa" - if you remember this kindly music - will tell you about him). |
