Trek to Machu Picchu via Salkantay - 5 days/4 nights

We leave the city and the noise, to enter an area of silence where we ccan ear the song of the birds, the sound of a little stream and the enchantment of the mountain. In 5 days we cross the valley, the high mountain range, and almost without realizing we enter the vegatation of the cloud forest, for finally astonish ourselves on the majesty of the beautifull Machu Picchu, integrated to the mountain as if it were part of it, work of great architects who knew how to construct in harmony with the landscape.


Itinerary Itinerary

Day 1 : Cusco - Soraypampa

Departure by bus at 5 a.m. in direction of Mollepata starting point of our tour where we arrive around 9 a.m. After a 4 hours walk in a beautifull flora and fauna, we arrive at Silcakancha, our first stop, where we benefit from the landscape.

The adventure continues with 3 hours of trekking to reach our first camp in the heights of Soraypampa where the chef prepares a typical meal.

Transport : Bus

Day 2 : Soraypampa - Colpapampa

We wake up early, ready for a new day of trekking after a solid breakfast. This day will lead us across the slopes of the mountains to pass from 3400m to 4650m with if necessary an additional oxygen contribution thanks to the bottles which we bring with us by precaution. After the rise and a good meal, the trek will lead us to Colpa Bamba place of our second nightcamp.

Day 3 : Colpapampa – La Playa

Wake up at 6:45 a.m. to take a good breakfast and to continue our excursion until Lluscamayu where we will borrow some Incas bridges to arrive at La Playa, small village insulated but charming which will accomodate our third camp.

Day 4 : Playa Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes

After the breakfast we take a rural transport (truck) to reach the village of Santa Teresa. We then make a one hour trek in direction of the barrage on the Rio Urubamba. We cross the hydro-electric barrage, and take our lunch and a little spare time until the arrival of the train which will take us to Aguas Calientes (30 min from there).

We spend this last night in a hostal.

Day 5 : Machu Picchu

After the breakfast we start a 1:20 hour excursion towards the famous sanctuary of Machu Picchu where the guide awaits us for a historical 2 hours visit of the citadel. The return to Aguas Calientes is ensured by a shuttle which will bring us directly to the station. The train whistles, it is already time to embark and leave Aguas Calientes in direction of Cusco.
